The contribution from the leading housebuilder will help enable the charity to continue its work rehome tens of thousands of dogs and to offer training and advice to those in need.

Stephanie Strong, Office Administrator at the Rescue Centre, said: “We were ecstatic when we heard that David Wilson Homes was looking to make a donation to us as we rely entirely on donations to run the Rescue Centre and help dogs in need. We do not receive any government funding and therefore this news was extremely welcome – we were over the moon.

“David Wilson Homes’ Community Fund scheme is such a generous and wonderful way to give back to local communities. It brings people together and supports those that need it most.

“This funding will help dogs like Polly who is in our care currently and looking for a new home. She was picked up as a stray and when her funding at the local pound came to an end, they asked us to take her in and find her a new home.

“On behalf of the dogs, staff, trustees and volunteers at Chilterns Dog Rescue Society, I would like to say a big thank you to David Wilson Homes. The kindness and generosity of the donation will directly benefit the dogs and their owners in the local area that would otherwise have nowhere to turn.”

Chilterns Dog Rescue Society was founded in 1963 and thanks to the continued support of the general public, through donations and fundraisers, the charity will be celebrating 60 years of rescue and rehoming in 2023.

John Dillon, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes South Midlands, said: “As a leading housebuilder we strive to support the communities in and around the areas in which we build, and we are delighted to be able to offer Chilterns Dog Rescue a donation to support the fantastic work it does.”
