The donation comes from the developer’s Community Fund initiative which aims to support and fund charities and organisations in the areas in which it builds.

Chris Archer, Treasurer of Melbourne Dynamos Football Club, said: “We were delighted to receive the funding as the last 18 months have been extremely difficult for us to raise funds through our usual channels.”

Melbourne Dynamos were formed in 1950 and have always played a significant role in providing opportunities in the local community for boys and girls to play football, starting from soccer school for under 7s, right through to adult and veteran teams.

Chris continued: “The funding will buy a new kit for one of our junior teams of which we now run 18.

“We have all been delighted to get back to playing and await the time when our social activities can recommence. Having fought very hard to ensure the continuation of our club during the pandemic, we all have seen what it would be like for there to be no club activities and the impact this has on the health and wellbeing of all our members, particularly the younger ones.”

Melbourne Dynamos has 18 junior teams and six adult teams on Saturday and Sunday each week, they also run a veterans’ section and walking football team.

Dominic Harman, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes Mercia, said: “We are thrilled to have provided Melbourne Dynamos with a donation from our Community Fund scheme.

“We are committed to creating a positive impact on the surrounding areas in which we build and are pleased to have been able to contribute to help the club continue to provide children with a chance to train and play football in a safe and fun environment.”
