A couple from Derbyshire has found their ideal home on the journey to upsizing their family thanks to buying off plan with Barratt Homes.

Sarah Naden (30) and her partner Liam Tilson (27) were already homeowners, so they are no strangers to the buying process. But after the arrival of their now two-year-old son Archie, the pair of Warehouse Operatives decided to look to the future ahead of extending their family further.

They recently moved to Barratt Homes’ High Peak Meadow development in Buxton where they secured a three storey property to allow them more space. Having lived in Buxton before, the move was the perfect opportunity for the trio to lay down some roots and grow their family.

Sarah said: “We decided to buy off plan because we were attracted to the idea of having a home that was ‘unlived’ in. It also allowed us to explore all of the choices that Barratt offered in terms of their house styles.

“I like having the fourth bedroom downstairs. We’re actually going to convert it into a utility room, which was a must have for our next home, and the space is perfect.

“We also found it great that the second and third bedrooms are upstairs, on a separate floor from the main bedroom. It means that we won’t disturb our little boy when we head off to work early in the morning, so the layout is ideal.”

After reserving a four-bedroom Kingsville, Sarah and Liam had the chance to see what their perfect home would look like with Barratt Homes’ interactive three storey living tool.

The tool was created for buyers to use when envisioning their future. With the ability to change the house type, and the choice of different rooms on each floor, buyers can explore the numerous opportunities that three-storey living has to offer. The virtual tool can be found at www.barratthomes.co.uk/create-your-perfect-house.

After having a go with the interactive feature, Sarah said: “I had seen other buyers using the tool on Instagram, and it’s nice to see how it functions. I really like that it gives an idea of how flexible a space can be, and really work for each individual buyer’s needs.”

With their home due to be completed later this year, Sarah and Liam are excited to settle their family in. Having experienced the buying process twice, the couple had some advice for buyers looking to get onto the property ladder.

Sarah said: “Do your research. Check developer’s reviews and go for the best that you can. For us, Barratt stood out as the best by far in terms of build quality and cost. It’s also a good idea to put down as much of a deposit as you can to reduce your mortgage.”

High Peak Meadow is located on the doorstep of the Peak District National Park, offering a mix of rural living and a bustling community in Buxton. There are a number of schools nearby for growing families, and great commuter links with the A6 close by for professionals.
