Corona is the World’s Most Googled Beer

New research by kitchen equipment experts Maxima Kitchen Equipment has revealed that Corona is the most Googled beer in 32% of the world’s countries.

The study analysed the number of Google searches for each of the world’s top 50 highest-selling beers in more than 180 countries.

It revealed that Corona is the most Googled beer in 62 out of 188 countries, while Heineken is the second most searched globally, ranking as the most Googled in 20 countries.

Searches for Corona beer top the rankings in countries including the US, where it receives an average of 42,000 searches every month, Germany, which Googles the beer around 22,000 per month, as well as the UK, Japan and Australia.

Corona, which placed 63rd on Forbes’ “World’s Most Valuable Brands 2020”, is also the most searched beer in the country of its origin, Mexico, where it receives around 30,000 searches each month.

Second-placed Heineken is the most searched beer in 20 countries, including Brazil, where it receives 73,000 searches each month, Russia and Egypt.

Castlemaine’s beer brand XXXX is the most searched in 12 countries, making it third on the list. It ranks as the most Googled beer in nations such as Bangladesh and Pakistan.

Tiger is close behind in fourth, topping the search rankings in 10 countries, attracting on average 15,000 monthly searches in Vietnam. It also ranks as the most searched beer in its home country, Singapore.

Budweiser was estimated to be the highest valued beer brand in the world in 2020, worth around $14 billion dollars, however it is the most searched in just two countries – Botswana and Croatia.

According to Statista, the revenue in the Beer industry worldwide equates to $612,406 million in 2021 and is expected to grow annually by 10.51%. 

Beer accounted for 45% of all alcoholic beverage sales in the US in 2019, making it the biggest share of the alcohol industry.

Beer production worldwide is 1.91bn hectolitres - the equivalent of 76,000 Olympic swimming pools.
