Newbury-based Falkland Grange Care Home, located on Monks Lane, has received a care package donation from housing developer David Wilson Homes Southern to mark Good Care Month in July.

The donation to the care home, located close to the homebuilder’s Donnington Heights development, provided a mix of essential items and entertainment for their residents.

The care package was comprised of body wash, small bars of soap, boxes of chocolates, jigsaw puzzles, a magnetic board game set, puzzle books and a large pack of greetings cards, for residents to use for keeping in touch with family and friends.

Good Care Month – which takes place annually throughout July – is designed to recognise the contribution carers make to families and communities throughout the UK. The donation from David Wilson Homes was aimed to support both residents and staff members at Falkland Grange Care Home.

Claire Blundell, Client Services Manager at Falkland Grange Care Home, said, “Anyone who has visited us will know that we have a real sense of community here, and our links to the wider community are really important to us too. This kind donation from David Wilson Homes Southern was such a thoughtful gesture and allowed us to deliver a gift to each of our residents.”

As well as the necessary personal items and chocolates for a treat, David Wilson Homes decided to include jigsaw puzzles and a board game set to make for light-hearted recreation when needed, recognising the importance of social engagement within care settings.

Campbell Gregg, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes Southern, said: “We wanted to show our support for key workers and the residents of care homes within our local communities.”

“Our donation of a care package to Falkland Grange Care Home is a symbol of togetherness after a difficult couple of years, whilst letting the more vulnerable members of our community know they are in our thoughts.”
