Defibrillators for All, a charity that aims to place defibrillators around Whittlesey to make them easily accessible has received a £1,500 donation from Barratt and David Wilson Homes.

The donation came as part of the Barratt Developments Plc Charitable Foundation, which is designed to support national and local charities, large and small, across the UK to leave a legacy in the communities in which the housebuilder operates.

The charity launched in 2014 after Founder and Chair, Deborah Slator, realised that there were no defibrillators in Whittlesey and the surrounding villages, meaning vital minutes could be lost following a cardiac arrest.

Deborah said: “Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ support is amazing. The donation came completely out of the blue, so it’s a huge relief for the charity and means we can continue to provide and maintain the defibrillators in Whittlesey.

“Across homes, businesses and even in people’s cars, we now have around 60 defibrillators in Whittlesey. Our intention is to place enough defibrillators in the area so that nobody is more than three minutes away from their nearest one.”

The charity also provides free of charge defibrillator and CPR training for businesses and schools to raise awareness about cardiac arrests.

Deborah continued: “This donation will cover the costs of a new defibrillator and cabinet, so we would like to say a massive thank you to Barratt and David Wilson Homes for supporting our mission!”

Barratt Homes is building in Whittlesey at Whittlesey Lakeside, and the charity’s work is essential for the benefit of new and existing residents across the town.

Daniel Evans, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Cambridgeshire, said: “As a leading housebuilder we strive to support the communities in and around the areas in which we build, and we are delighted to be able to offer Defibrillators for All a donation to support the fantastic work it does.

“You never know when a defibrillator might be needed, so having one nearby can make a vital difference.”
