British demand for Spanish property jumps 22%

New figures from leading Spanish homebuilder Taylor Wimpey España have revealed a 22% jump in reservations by British buyers (Q1 2024, year to date). British buyers show a clear preference for homes in the Costa del Sol, with the majority purchasing a Spanish home when aged between 45 and 59 years old. The Q1 2024 data also show that British buyers have a particularly strong appetite for apartments, rather than townhouses.

Britons are now third in the ranking of nationalities reserving the most properties with us, with homes in Malaga and elsewhere in the Costa del Sol proving to be especially popular. This is consistent with long-term trends. We have been selling homes in Spain to British (and other) buyers for more than 65 years and the sunshine, affordability, golf and beaches of the Costa del Sol have been a winning combination for decades.”
