Barratt Developments Yorkshire West celebrates the success of KidsOut’s annual fundraising event, ‘A Question of Sport’
Staff from Barratt Developments Yorkshire West are celebrating raising £120,920 at KidsOut’s A Question of Sport event which took place at Elland Road, the home of Leeds United Football Club, earlier this month.
The annual event welcomed over 900 people from the homebuilder and charity, as well as other local businesses and VIPs including Former Leeds United legend, Gordon Strachan, to raise money for KidsOut which helps disadvantaged children across the region.
A total of £120,920 was raised at the event through an auction and friendly quiz, inspired by the popular TV show, A Question of Sport.
KidsOut is a charity focused on providing positive experiences and days out for disadvantaged children. The money raised will go towards providing experiences that children and young people may not usually have access to, giving them experiences they will never forget. Barratt Developments Yorkshire West is a long-standing supporter of KidsOut, previously raising over £100,000 to fund four sensory rooms including one at The John Smith’s Stadium, the home of Huddersfield Town Football Club. KidsOut also provided a box full of toys for every child entering a women’s refuge in Yorkshire, fun days out for hundreds of children escaping serious domestic violence and much much more.
Managing Director at Barratt Developments’ Yorkshire West Division and Chair of the KidsOut Leeds committee, Ian Ruthven, commented: “It’s always a privilege to attend, and have a role to play in the KidsOuts ‘A Question of Sport’ event. The event is always so enjoyable, and a fantastic way of raising money for such a deserving, hardworking charity. We’re proud that the astonishing amount raised during this year’s event will have a direct and long-lasting impact on thousands of disadvantaged children and young people in our region”.
Gordon Moulds CBE, Chief Executive at KidsOut, commented: “We’re thrilled that this year’s event at Elland Road raised over £120,000 and would love to say a huge thank you to all those who attended. As a small charity, we’re reliant on fundraising events like this to help us further our work and to help higher numbers of disadvantaged children across Yorkshire. It’s amazing to see so many local businesses get involved in our events, and we’re delighted that Barratt Developments and others are so keen to offer their support”
