Ask Jeeves, LimeWire and BEBO are the most loved websites of the 00s
Nothing says nostalgia like the stress you had when your parents found out you sneaked on the computer to play some 8-bit game whilst they were on the phone. And remember when you had to listen to the screech of the modem before you could surf the web?
The Internet has come a long way since the 90s, but some things from the early days of the internet are still near and dear to our hearts, new research can reveal.
A new report by webhosting experts Fasthosts.co.uk surveyed 1,500 adults to find out the most loved websites from the nineties and noughties to find out if we actually did have it better when we could only access the internet when our mum was finished with her important phone call.
Ask Jeeves, LimeWire and BEBO revealed as the most loved websites of the 00s

Before Google was everyone’s go-to for all their burning questions, Ask Jeeves was where all the answers were. The early search engine has been crowned as the most loved nostalgic website, coming in first place with almost 1 in 3 respondents admitting that they would love for it to make a comeback.
Even though LimeWire was to fault for most of computer viruses, the software was voted as the second most loved by users.
With almost one in five adults voting for BEBO, the website comes in third place as the top old-school sites. The iconic social networking website was one of the first platforms that allowed users to instantly message and video stream and was launched 16 years ago!
Coming in fourth place as the top old-school site, is the multiplayer virtual world of Club Penguin. Given it was primarily aimed at children, many adults consider it a sentimental nostalgia trip reminiscent of their youth in the 00s.
Finally, 1 in 10 of adults stuck with the gaming theme, to name RuneScape as the fifth most nostalgic website.

Mirroring the most loved websites list, the top four websites’ users would love to use once again are Ask Jeeves, LimeWire, BEBO and Club Penguin respectively.
Whilst the old version of ‘Addicting Gamers’ ranks fifth in this category with almost 9% of adults wishing they could play once again the most fun retro games which reminds them of their youth.
