Announcing the First Exclusive T. rex Prehistoric Secret Science Show in Nottingham

Organisers of the Titus: T. rex is King exhibition have now launched an exclusive series of three symposiums to complement the hugely popular exhibition and to offer access to a unique panel of experts assembled just for the event.

The first of the three events, the ‘Prehistoric Secret Science Show’, will be held on Saturday 25th September at Wollaton Hall in Nottingham, for European Researchers’ Night, with limited tickets available.

Open to all, though especially designed for adults and children over the age of 10 years old and running from 2.00p.m until 6:30p.m, The Prehistoric Secret Science Show will include specialist talks and workshops, plus a self-led walk of the Titus: T. rex is King exhibition with the museum’s resident T. rex expert Martin Nunn available to answer questions about the mighty T. rex in the Titus room.

The Titus: T. rex is King exhibition first opened its doors to the public in July at Wollaton Hall and organisers have reported the exhibition to be a roaring success with ticket sales over the summer exceeding expectations.

The palaeontology led ‘Secret Science’ show has been designed to offer the opportunity for those eager to learn more about prehistoric life to delve deeper into the research that is currently taking place. It’s an unmissable opportunity to learn from the UK’s top experts about the largest land carnivores to have ever walked the planet and why the T. rex was King of the Dinosaurs.

The event is set to be packed with various prehistoric-themed talks & workshops throughout the day, covering all aspects of prehistoric life including:

‘Plants from the time of T. rex’ by Palaeobotanist Dr Susannah Lydon, Assistant Professor in Plant Science at the University of Nottingham.
A comparison convergence workshop on ‘Prehistoric animals and what is swimming now’ by Dr Tom Hartman, Programme Chair of the Masters in Biological Photography and Imaging and Tim Sexton, Species and Recording Officer from Rutland Water Nature Reserve.
With a background in animal biology, Palaeoartist Jed Taylor, will be running the Palaeoart T. rex workshop, offering the chance for visitors to create images of T. rex with the help of the latest scientific knowledge.
Talk from Palaeontologist Dr Adam Smith and children’s book author Jonathan Emmett.
Talks from lecturer in Environmental Science Dr Barry Lomax, and Palaeobiologist Dr Jordan Bestwick.
