ANNINGTON HELPS MAKE A HOME FOR NESTING BIRDS
As research shows that there are 19 million fewer pairs of native breeding birds in the UK compared to the late 1960s*, Annington has stepped up to create a home for wild birds at its Field View development in Marham, Norfolk and donated a number of nestboxes to residents to install in their gardens ahead of nesting season.
The nestboxes were sourced from local supplier Downham Garden Centre, and were handcrafted from birch log to provide a natural home for various small nesting birds, including great tits, pied flycatchers, tree sparrows, and house sparrows. Residents were invited to place their nestboxes in a safe place in the garden in time for nesting season to start in March.
Louise Saunders, Sales and Marketing Manager at Annington, comments: “We are proud to play our part in protecting declining birdlife populations by encouraging our residents to make a home for nature in their gardens. With so much wildlife already on the development’s doorstep thanks to its unique village setting and proximity to the nearby Marham Fen, we wanted to find a way to help residents share their gardens with native birds and ensure that they have a safe habitat to raise their young this spring.”
A resident at Field View added: “I love to help the local wildlife wherever I can and am very happy to have a nestbox in my garden, as the local birds are already enjoying my feeders.”
Located on the edge of the historic village of Marham, home to RAF Marham, the homes at Field View were originally built as married quarters and accommodation for military personnel. Annington is currently refurbishing the former MOD homes, with two and three-bedroom homes currently available from £125,000.
