Ali PSG launches investigations department and boosts corporate legal team
Ali Professional Services Group (Ali PSG) has launched an investigations service and boosted its corporate law offering for healthcare businesses, with two new appointments.
Fraud specialist Gary Rogers has joined the multi-disciplinary dealmaking and conflict resolution boutique as head of investigations. Sana Sadiq, who specialises in deals involving the healthcare sector, has been appointed a senior associate in the City of London group’s corporate law team.
Mr Rogers has spent more than 30 years as an investigator, including roles with the Civil Service and the Metropolitan Police. Between 1999 and 2019 he worked as a fraud investigator for Transport For London, receiving a Commander Commendation from the British Transport Police in 2013 for his role in a large-scale internal fraud investigation.
Since leaving Transport for London he has worked as a consultant, helping clients and leading investigations and training across the UK, Europe and USA. He is an accredited fraud investigator and crime analyst, specialising in fraud investigation, intelligence analysis, investigative training and cognitive interviewing techniques.
The Investigation Services department Mr Rogers has established at Ali PSG will work with clients in circumstances where dispute resolution is either inappropriate or has not been successful. Fields covered by the practice include: fraud, bribery and corruption; financial and forensic accounting investigations; regulatory and legal compliance; and serious staff misconduct.
Ms Sadiq worked for a number of firms before joining Ali PSG, including BMA Law, a specialist law firm established by the British Medical Association. In this role she provided commercial legal advice to BMA members and GPs in relation to practice mergers, partnership agreements and partnership disputes.
A graduate of the University of the West of England, she trained and qualified with the Bristol firm Meade King, where she primarily worked on sales and acquisitions of dental practices and care homes.
At Ali PSG Ms Sadiq will focus on developing and expanding the group’s offering to the healthcare sector, working with clients including dental practices, GPs and pharmacy groups. She will also provide additional expertise and support to Ali PSGs existing corporate clients.
Akbar Ali, co-founder and CEO of Ali PSG, leads the group’s corporate law team. He said, “First, I would like to extend a warm welcome to Gary and Sana, who have joined us at an incredibly exciting stage in our journey. As a business that launched earlier this year I couldn’t be prouder that we are able to attract new team members of their calibre.
“Ali PSG’s business model combines corporate law, corporate finance and dispute resolution advice to provide clients with a holistic service where all the different professional disciplines are pulling in the same direction.
“Bringing one of the country’s most experienced investigation professionals on-board means we can now offer an invaluable service for clients who suspect serious wrongdoing is afoot, acting with discretion to make sure their interests are upheld.
“Meanwhile, the pandemic has accelerated a number of trends in the ownership and management of healthcare practices. Sana’s expertise in this field will help us provide the very highest levels of service to clients in this vital sector.”
Ali PSG was established in 2021 and launched its integrated legal, corporate finance and conflict resolution offering in September. It provides joined-up advice to deliver M&A deals, MBOs, private equity-backed investment and fundraising transactions involving high-growth businesses throughout the UK.
