Trint, the AI transcription and content creation platform, has been awarded an Innovate UK Smart Grant. The grant will be used to develop Trint’s world-first live multi-language transcription and translation tool.

The Innovate UK Smart Grant is a government grant awarded to SMEs to support innovations with significant potential to benefit the UK economy. This grant will provide Trint with the resources to further enhance its one-of-a-kind live transcription services, poised to revolutionise the industry and redefine the future of live reporting.

Named Multi-Language Transcription and Translation Live (MLTT Live), Trint’s latest innovation harnesses AI to automatically detect and transcribe multiple languages in live audio and video streams with up to 99% accuracy. The technology can also translate the content to the journalist’s chosen language in real time. Better yet, transcripts will also include timecodes to make playback and verification quick and effortless.

Trint’s existing live transcription feature has already helped media organisations to save up to 75% of the time typically spent reporting on single-language events. Using their phone, journalists can transcribe moments in more than 40 languages, then translate everything once the transcription is complete.

The Innovate UK Smart Grant will fund research to extend these capabilities to live events where multiple languages are spoken, making real-time reporting easier, more efficient and more accurate. With MLTT Live, news organisations can report on live multi-language events in real-time, gaining a competitive edge and breaking stories first.

In light of the win, Jamie Morrison, Head of Product at Trint said:

“It’s fantastic to get such an endorsement for our plans from the UK Government through Innovate UK. The grant will enable us to accelerate important innovations to help us to continue to build AI products that are truly distinct, world-beating and valuable to our customers.”
