Ricardo P Lloyd is one of the famous artists of colour, whose blazing path has kept many young enthusiasts fascinated and motivated with every bit of extraordinary success the actor has made in the industry.

From a small family, schooling difficulties to one of the celebrated faces in the British nation, it has taken Lloyd pain, time, and sacrifice to rise above mediocrity and relentlessly pursue his ambitions with zest and courage.

Since his inception into the entertainment industry graduating with honours in performing arts film, tv and stage from Buckinghamshire New university in 2016. Lloyd then went on to do an Mba at Anglia Ruskin University he has made remarkable progress. His exceptional work quality and many years of experience often give him an edge, thrusting him to a prestigious national listing no one could imagine during his humble beginnings. Lloyd has worked and being mentored by Oscar winning actors such as Mark Rylance. He now has his eyes set on usa after recently signing with a usa agent.

Being of Jamaican descent and coming from a humble family, cutting through the waves and making it to an international fame arena couldn’t be an easy feat. But, through his strong focus on success and endless efforts to achieve greater in every situation, Lloyd has become one of the most influential actors of our time. However, it isn’t without challenges.

In 2020, Ricardo P Lloyd was listed among the Top 20 “Ones to Watch Out for” in business, sport, culture, and politics on The Voice Newspaper 2020. Unknown to the entire world, the worst events ever in many decades of human history were just about to unfold. Soon, the year that had begun with great prospects was quickly crumbled, with many across the globe finding themselves jobless and homeless.

Like other artists in the hospitality and entertainment industry, Lloyd nearly lost his life gains as the pandemic brought the entertainment sector to a standstill.

Despite being happy with his triumph, the actor expressed his plight as a young and upcoming black actor, giving an account of how the far-reaching effects of covid-19 made a life-altering impact on his career and the entire entertainment industry.

In an interview with the Spotlight, the artist explained the heartbreaking experiences that he went through at the peak of the pandemic, but still kept pressing, even if it meant starting afresh.

“It felt kind of painful and uncertain. I had theatre productions that I was a part of that got cancelled because of the restrictions and the new guidelines that were happening around Covid. From 2019, when I was doing all that stuff, it took me a while to get an agent. I saw some progress happening in my career, and for it to then take a pause and start going downhill was very frustrating,” lamented Lloyd.

Besides the devastating effects of the pandemic, Lloyd also explained some of the challenges young artists of color go through in the face of adversaries.

The challenges such as lack of enough connections often made him survive at the mercy of agencies that only gave him temporary work. Additionally, he would at times be a victim of racial discrimination as some employers viewed him as a tool for diversity rather than a valuable expert and a team player in the niche.

However, all is not lost for the quick witted artist as his ability to swiftly adjust to stormy situations always kept his zest for making great achievements and inspiring young people fresh. Even in the most challenging times, his innate creativity and self-motivation always kept him afloat. After a series of lockdowns in the UK major cities, the closure of social halls, and a ban of live entertainment activities for more than a year, Lloyd came out stronger, creating a short film in 2021.

He wrote, acted, and produced one of his short films titled “Call It A Problem teaming up with charity The People’s FC” and “Teviot Rangers JFC.” With his constant hard work and success over adversaries, Ricardo P Lloyd is an encouraging figure to many young people struggling to break through the noise and fulfill their ambitions.
