HUGH CORNWELL, plus eXTC – Hit the Road For UK Shows This Autumn

The legendary HUGH CORNWELL will be embarking on a tour of the UK, with support from very special guests eXTC.

Golden Brown, Strange Little Girl, Always The Sun, Peaches, No More Heroes, Nice & Sleazy…Sound familiar ? All big hits, all great songs, all written and sung by Hugh Cornwell, the songwriter behind The Stranglers.

When future historians of music draw up a list of the movers and shakers who changed the modern musical landscape, there will be no doubt that Hugh Cornwell’s name will be prominent amongst them. As a pioneering musician, songwriter, and performer his pervasive influence persists in the record collections of music aficionados, across this spinning globe’s radio waves, and on stages around the world. Hugh’s presence is unquestionable.

As leader of The Stranglers, Hugh was the main songwriter of all the band’s most memorable songs across ten stellar albums. After their 1977 debut Rattus Norvegicus, follow up albums No More Heroes, Black and White, The Raven and The Gospel According to The MenInBlack consolidated Cornwell’s stature as a unique songwriter and musician. His lyrics to Golden Brown, from the La Folie album, and their multiple meanings, is a songwriting masterclass.

In 2022, Hugh released his latest studio album ‘Moments of Madness’, an album of acute, pithy, and witty observations which has received widespread critical acclaim.

Later this year, Cornwell will release a new live album: ‘All the Fun of the Fair’ Double Live album, on 18th’ October 2024, before hitting the road for a stretch of Autumn gigs – details below.

Hugh will be supported at these dates by fellow post-punk trailblazers… eXTC.

For almost four decades, XTC fans could only dream of witnessing the sensational XTC classic songbook played live.

That dream has now become a reality. XTC’s legendary drummer, Terry Chambers, is back on the road with his band eXTC (named and approved by XTC frontman, Andy Partridge).

Emerging out of the post-punk and new-wave explosion of the late 70s. XTC experienced global success, touring with the likes of The Police and Talking Heads. Sadly, their legions of loyal fans would be left in limbo, when in 1982 XTC stopped touring, becoming a studio based entity. Now, forty years on, those loyal fans can once again experience all the XTC classics performed live to audiences across the globe.

Alongside Terry, eXTC features frontman Steve Hampton (lead vocal & guitar – Joe Jackson, The Vapors and Dead Crow Road) and Terry Lines (bass & vocals – The Rams and Dead Crow Road).

With eXTC Terry Chambers and friends take you on a journey through time as they work their way through the XTC back catalogue including the hits, Senses Working Overtime, Making Plans for Nigel, Sgt Rock, Life Begins at the Hop, Dear God, Mayor of Simpleton, and many more!

Capturing all the raw energy and hype of XTC’s heyday with their sensational energetic live performances, catch eXTC on tour with Hugh Cornwell at the dates as follows:
