Average Brit eats 100 slices of cake per year – with 4 billion scoffed nationwide

Brits can grab themselves a free slice of cake across the UK this weekend thanks to cake and carvery experts Farmhouse Inns.

This generous giveaway is taking place to celebrate both the launch of the brand’s new limited edition summer cake, ‘The Party Starter’, as well as 20 years as the experts in the field of cake and carvery.

To claim your free slice, simply visit one of 68 Farmhouse Inns around the UK and say the codeword ‘Farmhouse Birthday’ when ordering at the restaurant. The giveaway will run on Saturday 22nd on a first come, first served basis.

To launch its new cake, Farmhouse Inns, a brand famous for its massive cakes, is also taking over Leeds Trinity Centre, erecting a giant 6ft edible version of the limited edition cake in the heart of the shopping outlet. Slices of the giant cake will be handed out between 11am-1pm on Tuesday 18th June.

The Neapolitan inspired cake, made from three layers of vanilla, strawberry and chocolate sponge, covered in strawberry icing, has been lovingly designed by the Farmhouse Inns experienced in house ‘Cake-a-tiers’ to invite Brits to try something new, after national research revealed that nearly half (47%) typically go for the same flavour cake every time.

As a nation, we eat almost 100 (99) slices of cake per person every year, with a whopping 3.9 billion slices of cake consumed annually by Brits.

When it comes to sharing a slice of cake with someone, Sir David Attenborough tops the list for UK residents, pulling more than a fifth (22%) of the vote.
