Birmingham’s Bull swings into style for the Betfred British Masters
Birmingham’s beloved Bull, The Guardian, turned heads last Thursday as it stepped onto the fairway in style, donning a retro golf jumper and teeing up excitement for the upcoming Betfred British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo.
As part of the celebrations leading up to the prestigious tournament hosted by the golfing legend at The Belfry this August, the Bullring Shopping Centre was transformed into a vibrant hub of golf, attracting a lively mix of fans, shoppers and intrigued visitors.
The event featured a pop-up putting green, a 24-hour ticket giveaway and a special appearance by DP World Tour winner Marcus Armitage, affectionately known as The Bullet. Visitors had the chance to meet Marcus, pose with the Betfred British Masters trophy and take selfies with the newly styled Bull.
Adding heart to the spectacle, the official charity partner Guide Dogs brought their superstar pups to the Bullring Shopping Centre. The dogs proved to be a hit with visitors, offering tail-wagging photos and inspiring stories of independence and confidence.
Marcus Armitage praised the event as a fun day out for all the family, saying:
“I’ll be playing the Betfred British Masters this August, and I can’t wait. I’ve played nearly 200 events around the world, but this one is a real highlight.
“It’s great to have a big event like this in a brilliant city like Birmingham, and at The Belfry, which has a massive golfing history. It’s a super golf course and there will be lots of top players, including Ryder Cup stars.
“It’s an exciting week and the crowds are always fantastic. Bring your kids along, bring your family members, they’ll really enjoy it. It’s a great day out for everyone, especially the kids. You never know, one of them might be inspired to pick up a club and become a golfer themselves one day.”
The Betfred British Masters 2025 will take place from 21-24 August at The Belfry in Sutton Coldfield, with the iconic Retro Saturday returning on 23 August inviting fans to don vintage golf attire, enjoy classic British tunes while Sir Nick chooses the best dressed winner.
