The best comfort foods of all-time, voted by Brits!
As the sun sets earlier, the weather gets colder and we spend more time at home, comfort food often helps us through the long winter hours.
So, the team at online cake shop Jack and Beyond were intrigued to uncover which comfort-food is voted the best of all-time by Brits! They surveyed 3,280 people from across the country to find out which meals we’ll be turning to most for comfort this winter!

After surveying 3,280 food-lovers, online cake shop Jack and Beyond can reveal that the UK’s favourite comfort food is…cheesy pasta! Clearly the carbs can’t keep us away, as a whopping 71% of Brits described this dish among the best comfort foods of all-time, placing it in the God tier.
In second place is pizza, receiving the title of best comfort food from 68% of the country!
Taking the crown of the UK’s third favourite comfort food is the British classic, a roast dinner. This dish was voted a favourite by 67% of Brits and it’s clear to see why, not only does it remind us of home but it can be a low fuss dish.
Appealing to our taste buds and appeasing our hunger, a curry takes the fourth spot! This hot meal can seem daunting but in many cases is easy to make (and even easier to order from the local takeaway), hence why 65% of the British public voted it among the best comfort foods ever.
Jack and Beyond found that the simple cheese toastie ranks as the fifth best comfort food of all time as it received 62% of the votes.
Following in sixth position is Chinese sweet and sour chicken! Authentic Chinese appears to be the way to a Brit’s heart as 59% voted this as their favourite comfort food.
Placing in seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth position are lasagne (54%), macaroni cheese (51%), poutine (46%), and carbonara (45%)!
