NOTTINGHAMSHIRE PUPIL ENJOYS TRIP TO LOCAL FARM AFTER HOMEBUILDER’S HABITAT COMPETITION

Children at Chuter Ede Primary School in Fernwood were tasked by the housebuilder to draw a selection of animals in their natural habitat to encourage them to think about how they adapt to their surroundings.

Elliot Harris in Year 2 was selected as the winner of the competition for his outstanding drawing of a chameleon, and received a gift voucher for White Post Farm from Barratt Homes for himself, his parents and his younger sibling to enjoy a day out.

Rachel Revill, Head of School at Chuter Ede Primary School, said: “Everyone really enjoyed the competition, and we are really proud of their imagination in producing lovely pictures. Elliot’s was so colourful, and the detail was amazing. Well done, Elliot!”

With freedom to choose any animal they wished, the pupils submitted a range of entries which included starfish, an octopus, lobsters, sharks and jellyfish – all of which tied in with the topic of habitats, which the pupils were already learning about.

Whilst being colourful and bright, Elliot’s chameleon was an interesting choice and stood out as the winner due to the animal being able to flexibly adapt to its surroundings, similar to how the lives of homebuyers change as they grow with their properties.

Martyn Parker, Sales Director at Barratt Homes North Midlands, said: “We received some fantastic entries from Chuter Ede Primary School for our animal habitat competition and it was really difficult to choose a winner.

“Elliot’s chameleon stood out because it’s an animal that can comfortably adapt to its surroundings, and we were delighted to award a prize which also supported a local business.

“Our new homes are designed in a way which enables property seekers to adapt to new situations and lifestyle changes, so it’s quite fitting that Elliot’s entry reflected this.”

Chuter Ede Primary School is close to Barratt Homes’ Fernwood Village development, which currently has a range of four bedroom properties available.
